The Montefeltro area, where the wonderful city of Urbino is located, lies in the hills around Rimini, behind San Marino and between the provinces of Perugia, Arezzo and Rimini.

It’s a region rich in historical and artistic monuments, and one which still bears the signs of the various events in the wars between Urbino family of Montefeltro and the Malatesta family of Rimini.

The are many castles, palaces, fortresses and towers, as well as convents and churches with frescoes, crucifixes and paintings from various schools and eras.

It’s anextremely beautiful environment, rich in historical remains and evidence of the past. Many famous painters were born here. The closeness Tuscany, Umbria and Romagna makes it a perfect starting point to visit these regions.

From the North: exit the highway (A14) at Rimini nord, continue towards Verrucchio and San Leo; in San Leo follow the signs for Carpegna until you see directions for Frontino.

From the South: exit the highway (A14) at Pesaro-Urbino, continue towards Macerata Feltria and Mercatale, Lunano and Carpegna until you see the signs for Frontino.

Or: exit at Arezzo (A1), follow the signs for Sansepolcro; then for Urbino on the S.S. 73 bis; in Sant'Angelo in Vado turn left towards Piandimeleto, Frontino.
